Erwin L. Atkins

Erwin Atkins has more than thirty years of experience in the area of business-related immigration matters and has co-authored several articles on this subject which have been published in international journals. Mr. Atkins was admitted to the bar of the State of New York in 1967. He is a former Trial Attorney with the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the New York State Bar Association. He received a Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1967, an LL.M. from New York University School of Law in 1968 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Buffalo in 1964.

Laura A. Holroyd

Laura Holroyd has been a practicing attorney since 1986, and has focused her practice exclusively in the area of business immigration law since 1995, primarily on behalf of corporate clients, academic institutions and human resources professionals. Ms. Holroyd handles all aspects of immigration and nationality matters, providing advice and counsel regarding both U.S. and foreign matters. Her practice covers all employment-based nonimmigrant classifications, U.S. permanent residence, especially for outstanding researchers and professors, individuals of extraordinary ability, aliens working in the national interest, and multinational managers /executives, and naturalization.

She works closely with in-house human resources departments to develop and manage global immigration, corporate compliance and best practices programs. Her areas of expertise encompass global mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, multinational transfers, start-ups and “new office” intra-company transfers, implementation of treaty investor programs, LCA audits and I-9 compliance.

Ms. Holroyd has published articles in international publications on a variety of immigration topics, and frequently lectures on business immigration law to corporate human resources departments, international business groups, professional associations and academic research institutions throughout the United States. She has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since.

Prior to her work in the field of immigration, Ms. Holroyd practiced for almost a decade in the areas of commercial litigation and antitrust law for an international trade and litigation law firm in Manhattan. She is a graduate of Columbia University, Barnard College (B.A., cum laude, 1982) and Boston College Law School (J.D. 1985). Admitted: New York bar 1986; U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York; U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York. Member: American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (1996 to present); Association of the Bar of the City of New York (Member, Young Lawyer's Committee, 1993-1996, Chairman, Brief Judging Committee for National Moot Court Competition, 1994-1996); American Bar Association (Member, Banking and Commercial Litigation Committee, 1994-1995).
